Fairway Lumber Home Building Centre is hiring a full time Local Truck Driver – Cube Van at their location on 1205 King St. N., in St. Jacobs, ON. 

Fairway Lumber Home Building Centre supplies building materials to retail, contractors and home builders since 1958.

Local deliveries take place in Waterloo region and the surrounding areas.

Work Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 5:00pm
• Saturday: 8:00am-12:00pm

Wage/Salary:

• $22.00-25.00 per hour
• $500 sign-on bonus to be paid after 6 months of continuous employment

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a cube van to deliver building materials to retail locations, contractors, and builders in Waterloo region and surrounding areas
• Load and unload building materials, ensuring they are properly secured and protected during transportation
• Plan efficient routes using navigation systems and familiar knowledge of local roads and highways
• Adhere to transportation regulations and traffic laws to ensure compliance and safety
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues
• Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues regarding delivery instructions, updates, and any issues that arise
• Provide excellent customer service, being courteous and professional in all interactions
• Manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines and adapt to unexpected changes or delays
• Maintain accurate records, including delivery receipts, invoices, and any required documentation
• Demonstrate physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items, as required in loading and unloading building materials
• Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of delivery instructions, invoices, and materials being transported

Qualifications:

• Valid G Driver’s License required
• Ontario Driver’s Abstract required
• Ability to use GPS or Navigation preferred
• Customer service and communication skills
• Able to meet physical demands: ability to bend, sit, stand, crouch, walk and lift up to 50lbs regularly
• Time management to ensure products and materials are delivered within delivery times
