Youth Educator (before & after school program)

Permanent Part-Time: 13.75 hours per week | Shifts: Monday through Friday, 2:45 pm to 5:30 pm
Pay Rate: $22.918 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Jean Steckle Public School, 130 Woodbine Ave, Kitchener ON
Your Contributions & Impact:
- Implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for 4 to 12-year-olds which allow for choice, creativity, and independence
- Take responsibility for the health and safety of the children in your care
- Follow daily schedules and take responsibility for clean-up and organization of supplies
- Act as a positive role model for the children
- Work as part of a team of Youth Educators
- Maintain effective communication with staff, parents, facility staff, and program manager
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Part-time hours: 13.75 per week
Salary: $22.91 per hour

You have ...
- experience interacting with and inspiring School Age children, preferably in a childcare, education, or recreation setting,
- understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act, familiarity with the use of assessment tools such as ECERS, ITERS, SACERS, High Five, and/or a working knowledge of child development,
- enthusiasm, initiative, proven ability to work as an effective team member,
- excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
Mandatory Requirements
- Registered Early Childhood Educator or related degree such as Recreation and Leisure or Child and Youth Worker (subject to approval by the Ministry of Education)
- Up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C certification
- Vulnerable Sector Record Check
- Standard Food Safety Handler’s Certificate
- Vaccine Verification - As a condition of employment you are required to provide confirmation that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 or have proof of valid exemption satisfactory to the employer.
