Part-time Supply Youth Educator

Supply Youth Educator (before & after school program)

Hours & Compensation:
Pay Rate: $20.056 per hour, with an additional 2% in lieu of benefits
Various Locations: https://ywkw.ca/early-learning-childcare
Start Date: asap
Hours: Monday to Friday daytime. Schedules built based on needs of the program. Specific shifts and locations will be discussed during phone screen and interview conversations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for 4 to 12-year-olds which allow for choice, creativity, and independence
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of the children in your care
  • Follow daily schedules and take responsibility for clean-up and organization of supplies
  • Act as a positive role model for the children
  • Work as part of a team of Youth Educators
  • Maintain effective communication with staff, parents, facility staff, and program manager

Required Experience

Skills, Qualifications, & Requirements:

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or related degree such as Recreation and Leisure or Child and Youth Worker (subject to approval by the Ministry of Education)
  • Minimum 1-year experience with School Age children, preferably in a childcare, education, or recreation setting
  • Understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act and familiarity with the use of assessment tools such as ECERS, ITERS, SACERS, High Five
  • Enthusiasm, initiative, and a working knowledge of child development
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (required)
  • Vulnerable Sector Record Check (required)
  • Standard Food Safety Handler’s Certificate (required)
  • Vaccine Verification - As a condition of employment you are required to provide confirmation that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 or have proof of valid exemption satisfactory to the employer. You must acknowledge and agree to comply with any future vaccine policy requirements as an ongoing condition of employment at the YW Kitchener-Waterloo.
