Full-time Challenger - 5 week Truck Training

at Challenger in Kitchener



PROGRAM OVERVIEW: (5 WEEKS - 103.5 hours)

This program includes all mandatory objectives set forth in the Ministry of Transportation’s Commercial Truck Driver Training Standard (Class A), released July 2016, plus additional objectives that exceeds the minimum standard.


 Subjects of the program include:

• Employment in the Commercial Vehicle Industry

• Vehicle Components & Systems

• Basic Driving Techniques

• Professional Driving Habits

• Tractor-Trailer Off-Road Tasks and Maneuvers

• Documents, Paperwork and Regulatory


• Vehicle Inspection Activities

• Hours of Service Compliance

• Cargo Securement

• Handling Emergencies

This program includes both classroom and practical training. The hands-on training takes place in the Challenger facility and on the road using a tractor-trailer, while under the instruction of a

qualified trainer. Students will also engage in various classroom activities to help prepare for a career as a professional driver.

CTTA operates 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) . Classroom/In truck/In yard training may be

scheduled on Saturday’s if necessary.

Note: In order for scheduled classes to be held, there is a minimum enrollment in place.

If a class must be canceled due to low enrollment, the enrolled participants will be notified.

When possible, alternative dates will be provided for future classes.

Upon completion of the CTTA AZ Program, you will receive the following:

CTTA Certificate of Achievement and a Provincial Road Test.


Must be 18 years of age or older, Must have minimum Grade 10 English (or Wonderlic)

Must hold a Valid Ontario full Class G License, MTO Medical that meets the vision, hearing and medical requirements for a class A license

Drivers Abstract CTTA requires a copy of your contract from the funding agency prior to enrollment for our records

Upon approval of the “Admission Qualifications”, you may begin your training on any prearranged Monday morning or around your schedule as agreed.
