Puptown Waterloo is hiring a full time Retail & Pet Services Manager to join their experienced and professional dog services team!

Work Hours:

Operational hours are:

• Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 6:00pm
• Saturday 7:00am- 9:00pm
• Full Time staff are scheduled based on availability and business need
• Must be flexible and available for days, evenings and weekends

Wage/Salary:

• $18.00 per hour to start, negotiable depending on experience
• Wage increases based on performance

Responsibilities:

• Supervising and monitoring daily tasks of small team of staff
• Constructing a schedule for employees and manage their time off, sick leave, and time tracking
• Overseeing retail inventory in creating purchase orders and communicating with vendors
• Adhering to and ensuring staff follow health and safety protocols and company policies
• Developing promotions to increase business to retail store and dog services such as day care, boarding, grooming, training, etc.
• Customer service and sales of services and retail store products
• Providing high level of service to customers during all interactions (pick up/drop off, scheduling, etc.)
• Handling customer service inquiries, complaints and resolving issues in professional manner
• Processing payments using point of sale terminal; debit, credit and cash handling
• Managing financials, including bank drop-offs, for the retail store, reconciling online bookings and end of day balancing

In addition to Manager duties, you will also actively participate in other aspects of the business such as:

• Supervising and handling dogs of all different sizes and breeds
• Monitoring dog behaviours, anticipating and taking proactive approach in avoiding conflict
• Consistently cleaning dog waste and urine to ensure clean play and pen areas
• Cleaning all areas, toys and tools as needed; use of pressure washer at times
• Exercising and engaging in structured play activities with dogs

Qualifications:

• Previous retail management or supervisory experience highly preferred
• Must have previous experience in customer service, merchandise inventory and retail
• Must be able to remain calm and patient in a stressful or chaotic environment
• Excellent communication and team work skills are required
• Ability to provide clear direction, take initiative and delegate tasks to staff effectively
• Must be reliable, flexible in offering coverage and have outstanding attendance
• Previous experience in animal handling and dog behaviour is an asset
• Basic dog grooming experience (bathing, brushing, nail clipping, etc.) is an asset
• Must be confident and assertive in working with all sizes and breeds of dogs
• Need to be comfortable working in loud and fast moving environments
• Need to be comfortable in working in environments with strong odours and cleaning dog waste
• Must be able to lift heavy items such as large bags of dog food or lifting dogs in and out of tub
